This is really different from your newer work yet it is still pretty good! I gotta look back at some of my older stuff, it's often good inspiration for writers block. :-)

Teckmo-X responds:

Yeah this old stuff was a pretty big start for me because I was starting to get to know how to make music.

This is great! How you mix retro sounds with modern ones. Only thing to improve would be the outro, it's a little abrupt.
Have you tried making any bitpop? This is pretty close and I think you would do it well.

Teckmo-X responds:

Thanks! Yeah I've been working on a lot of sounds lately but I'm more on experimenting them right now. I'm supposed to start making Chillstep tracks but haven't got the time since work and college. I look forward to posting more on here soon starting June.

You find the loz marimba videos from Mart0zz? I definitely hear similarities between them and this.
Really great work, I love the marimbas and the small amount of glockenspiels! :D

Onefin responds:

nah i just used the picture cuz i thought it was nice :)

Not a finished song but not bad at its current state, it has potential.

Personally I would just try and complete songs. I wouldn't worry about if people like the songs only if they are put together well and have good melodies, etc. No idea is bad. :D

BlueAlpha14 responds:

What do you mean "not a finished song"? This took me hours! :P

Thanks, I might work on this. I'll see if the second one blows everyone's mind better.

My motivation also comes in surges, very quick, very often surges. =P
First off this track is repetitive but this is a test loop-thingy so I guess that's fine.
The melodies that this song is made of are good but the song could probably use some evolution, build up, etc.
The instruments sound good but the volume of the instruments is off and the instruments clash. The bass instrument is too loud and the lead is too quiet.
This isn't a full song so it loses a few points but still, good job! As long as you continue to see flaws in your past work it means that you are growing. Keep growing, in a long time you'll start to get really good. You are already improving! =D

BlueAlpha14 responds:

Thanks for giving me such detailed reviews, this track and previous ones.
My motivation isn't often, but in some cases it is.
I tried to keep it somewhat different, as you may hear the offset modulation change. I kept it repetitive for 16 bars because I didn't want a 4 bar loop.
Oh yeah, thanks for telling me about the volume. I tried to make everything audible but I must've overdid it.
I may make this a full track if I make a build-up that works. The drop is C3 centered so yeah. This was just a test of pure boredom.
Thanks again,
~Alpha

This song is pretty good, you only really need to fix a few small things! First off the general sound of the instrument at 0:22 is a bit to high pitched, I would add a little more cutoff (or whatever its called in your program). I don't know if newgrounds does seamless looping but it doesn't loop perfectly and that is key as a game sondtrack (probably newgrounds though). The melodies are good and the Instruments fit well together but the song is a bit short, even for looping vgm. You did mange to pack a lot of variety into a small song though. All in all great song! Keep up the work, looking forward to hearing more. =D

wyver9 responds:

Yeah, this is Newgrounds looping, wav file is looped perfectly, unfortunately only mp3 is available to upload here.
Thanks a lot for review!

Just first listening to this track I can tell it is put together superbly! Good melodies, mixing, and instrument quality, though the transitions were not the best. The song also seems to jump from style to style constantly while keeping a slight fell. I don't really know if that's a bad thing or not, though it seems to fit this song well enough. The intro and outro are both put together very well keeping the slight cinematic feel of the song. Altogether, probably to good for me to find flaws in. Nice work! =D

alternativesolution responds:

I'm glad the melodies and mixing were to your liking. Transitions are a spot of improvement for me for sure. I appreciate the feedback and glad you enjoyed! :)

First off, the intro is nice, and the melodies in it work well together. At 0:26 the instruments aren't mixed together very well (The new instrument is too loud and sounds simple). I like some of the "record scratch" sound effects, they fit the song well. The transitions aren't bad but they could definitely be better. Most of the melodies in the song are OK but the outro isn't very well executed. It had potential but it stretched on too long and the really quiet low pitched instrument didn't feel like it fit in. With a few changes and a new outro this could be a great song, keep up the good work! =D

Walpang responds:

Thank you for the tips and your really thorough analysis of my song. I totally agree with what you said. This was very helpful and I will attempt to correct it right away!

I fight a constant battle to make music on a monthly basis. Use my songs for whatever, just pm me first! (^ w ^)
