I agree strongly with the people from before but I'll see if I can find specific parts of your music to work on.
First off there is too much going on and all of the instruments blend together. (A few slow parts are good though.) The mixing is done poorly, some instruments are too loud some are too quiet, and the sound effect / percussion at 0:27 doesn't fit with the song, it's too loud and long. In general lots of your sound effects seem random and misplaced. The melodies don't really sound too good but they are OK (this goes up with practice). The sound design of your instruments is better than mine though, so some of the solo instrument parts sound nice.
All in all try doing something simple like chiptune and learn to structure your songs (slower notes and fast notes, not just fast notes) and you will see some large improvement. =D

"First off there is too much going on and all of the instruments blend together" wut??? So is it bad that they blend together? What do you mean?
I listened to some of your songs too see what's missing in mine, and I'll take your advice on practicing with chiptunes. Probably, I'll analyze and make an ep based off the Undertale OST.
Thx :)

I'd say this is better than your average track, you're improving, yet the mixing and melodies aren't very good primarily the mixing. The instruments and percussion sort of clash, too much on the bass. Also about learning how to make music with NG I think is a great idea, when I first started out I was way worse than you. Keep going and start simple. =D

BlueAlpha14 responds:

You really think so? Odd since I think my older tracks were better than this one.. I sure hope I'd be improving after 3 months lol.
The melody I agree wasn't very good but it was the closest to an "Indonesian" lead since all of the snake related tracks I heard have that sort of feel. And yeah, I can't argue about the mixing. I used to think it was silly that professional artists pay people to do their mixing for them but I can see now why it's very hard.
I have met a mixture of people on here in terms of audio. Some people have given me great advice, some people have given me inspiration/motivation, some people say "screw off and figure it out yourself", and some people think my music isn't good enough to be posting on here. I used to have way too high expectations while browsing through here but now after seeing the tough work myself I'll definitely look from a beginner's point of view if a user who's starting out posts a not so good track.
Thanks for the review!

The claps don't fit with the melody of the song, the melody of the song is solid though. Also I listened to some of your songs and as general info I think you have to try making something simple. Simple structure, instruments, melodies, and compsition. You're using advanced tools and not really using them right. Just keep trying! =D

BlueAlpha14 responds:

lol yeah someone else told me about the claps. I only have the demo so unfortunately I don't have an .flp file to edit. Maybe someday I can redo it by ear.
I also don't know how to fix my misusage of advanced tools without examples. I've produced like 5 tracks in 12 now. If you could, please PM me so maybe I can improve on a short track I'm working on atm.
Thank you for the review though. I always appreciate feedback on my work.

Sounds so much like Pokemon ^^ ! I also like the changes you did to it, Great Job! =D

Teckmo-X responds:

Thank you! It was a pretty simple song really but again thanks :3

Really good, just feels like there is a bit more that could be added. Either way great job!

Noisysundae responds:

Thanks for this, man. I suck at doing layered instruments and that might be the reason why this piece sounds so weak.

First off really really good work! Great transitions, melodies, and mixing. The only problems I can find are that the intro needs to be a bit slower, only by about a second, the song needs to be a bit longer, and that the song needs an actual outro because just fading out doesn't really fit this type of song. Either way, keep this up! =D

JandreParis responds:

Hmmm... Seems like people want the intro to be a tiny bit longer. I might have an idea to sort that out. Definitely won't end the song with that kind of outro. I've got the outro already in mind ;) This is just a taste and lot of things are placeholder before they're fully fleshed out. Thanks for the sentiments!

First off this song sounds really great It sounds really good except for some obvious reason I need not mention. =P It loops well and the drum track goes well with the other instruments, it is a little repetitive but that doesn't really interfere with the song. The main thing to work on would be to add some more melodies cause the song is a bit short. I don't usually listen to this type of music but it sounds like you know what you're doing, keep up the great work! =D

MegaSphere responds:

Don't assume everything is obvious. I hate playing the guessing game.

First off I really like the beginning but around 0:34 the sounds don't feel like they fit together. Same with 0:50, the instruments feel all jumbled together maybe make the strings less "plucky". (I don't really know the terminology but less sustain / shorter notes == plucky) At 1:17 every thing is too loud and the stoping of the music doesn't fit together with everything, though if you got the music stopping just right I think it would sound really good. Really good transitions and altogether the track sounds put together well. Also maybe drag the end on a little bit more or add some of those music stopping things if you get them just right. Altogether your song just needs some more mixing and it'd be great! Keep up the good work! =D

MysteriousPresence responds:

You again ? Are you following me ? X)
Thanks for the review !
Now that I think about it, I should have insisted more on the "glitchy" aspect of the music, thanks for helping me out on this point !
I didn't think about the "plucky" side of the synthesizer, but you're right about it, it would have fitted more with the personality of the music !
About the mixing, unfortunately, I reached the limits of the software I'm using, I'm waiting for FL Studio to be available on Mac, I have been saving money for a while now, and I have the budget ! :3
Thanks again ! =)

I fight a constant battle to make music on a monthly basis. Use my songs for whatever, just pm me first! (^ w ^)
